Boston noiserock band Kal Marks release a new single, 'My Name Is Hell', ahead of their upcoming new album of the same name, due out on the 5th of August on Exploding In Sound Records. Emerging from the pandemic with a reconfigured lineup as a four piece the bands sound still centres around singer and guitarist Carl Shane's distinctive song writing, the new track is an example of the band's ability to combine crushing tones and instrumentation around a melodic core, the addition of another guitarist is particularly audible on the outro that descends into a cacophony of wailing guitar solos. Shane discusses the inspiration behind the song, “This is a song about how we all have some dark sides that work against our best interest, I started out writing about a specific unfortunate event, but it’s changed over time to be a more general thing that happens to a lot of us.
